UK TOUR UPDATE: Video and pictures from Jeff Slate's whirlwind tour

Watch Jeff Slate play "Taxman" with the Mersey Beatles at Liverpool's Cavern Club

Jeff Slate recently returned from a whirlwind tour of the UK, having performed in Oxford and London, appeared on the BBC and at two Liverpool events marking the 10th anniversary of George Harrison's passing.

Jeff performed stripped down sets of new solo material, classics from The Badge's catalogue and a few covers. But the highlights were a solo-acoustic set of several numbers from George Harrison's "All Things Must Pass", three Beatles-era Harrison numbers with Liverpool's Mersey Beatles and Bob Dylan's "If Not For You" with the New Rebels at St. George's Hall on the afternoon of November 29th, with encore performances with the Mersey Beatles and the New Rebels that evening at Liverpool's legendary Cavern Club.

Follow Jeff on Facebook for more pictures and videos from the trip.

JEFF SLATE IN THE UK!
Jeff to play Oxford, London and Liverpool.

Liverpool concerts marking the 10th anniversary of George Harrison's passing and BBC Merseyside appearances highlights of visit.

Jeff Slate will visit the UK this November for several shows and an appearance on the BBC. Along with shows in Oxford and London, Jeff will appear at two concerts marking the 10th anniversary of former Beatle George Harrison's passing on November 29, 2011.

On Saturday, November 26th, Jeff will appear with guitarist Mark Stow and pianist Tim Croston at Oxford's Cafe Tarifa (58-60 Cowley Road, Oxford) for a stripped down set at 5 PM.

On Sunday, November 27th, Jeff will return to London's Filthy MacNasty's (68 Amwell Street, Islington) for an early evening acoustic show with pianist Tim Croston beginning at 7 PM.

On Monday, November 28th, Jeff will make his fourth appearance on Billy Butler's BBC Merseyside radio show, promoting the George Harrison tribute shows and talking about The Badge and his upcoming solo album.

And on Tuesday, November 29th, the 10th anniversary of Harrison's passing, Jeff will perform at a free afternoon concert at Liverpool's St. George's Hall and an evening show at the legendary Cavern Club.

Jeff is set to perform an acoustic tribute to Harrison's landmark "All Things Must Pass" album (afternoon performance only), a set of George's Beatles-era songs with Liverpool's own Mersey Beatles and Bob Dylan's "If Not For You" with The New Rebels, consisting of members of George's first teenage band The Rebels.

In 2009 Jeff's band The Badge released "For George: Live at the BBC - The Bootleg Series, Vol. 7." The 4-song digital EP is being offered as a free download at www.thebadge.com and includes three songs from Jeff's BBC appearances in conjunction with the two George Harrison tribute shows The Badge's founder appeared in at Liverpool's St. George's Hall on August 1, 2009.

The EP includes stripped-down acoustic versions of the Harrison classics "If Not For You", "Any Road" and "This Is Love" as well as a full-band studio recording of "I Don't Want To Do It." The latter track was recorded by Slate, The Badge's former drummer Alex Alexander (who appears on the new single "Dreamtime" as well as Jeff's forthcoming solo album), bassist Marc Grunenfelder, and guitarist John Ellis (who made a guest appearance on the band's 2003 release "Calling Generation Mojo") during demo sessions for the band's second album.

Birds of Paradox?

Birds of Paradox

Jeff has teamed up with producer Eric Lichter and production has begun on a solo album tentatively entitled "Birds of Paradox: Lucky Day Sunset", in honor of the crack band that's come together recently. After several appearances at private parties in New York City, guitarist Jimmy Mack, bassist Gary Van Scyoc, keyboardist Adam Ippolito and drum god Steve Holley came together to work on a few of Jeff's originals in late March. That led to more sessions and the basic tracks for eleven new songs.

Look for updates and preview downloads in the coming months.

New Single "Dreamtime"
released November 17, 2010

Jeff teams up with Earl Slick, Carlos Alomar and others to reignite his solo career and mark the anniversary of "Double Fantasy".

"Dreamtime" is the first solo release of new music from Jeff Slate in over 15 years and it's out now.

The full-tilt rock track features Earl Slick and Carlos Alomar on guitars, Alex Alexander on drums, Scott Sherratt on bass and Gail Ann Dorsey and Bethany Weimers on backing vocals.

"It all began with me talking to Scott Sherratt about reuiniting our teenage band the Mindless Thinkers to do some recording," Slate recently recalled. "I had about a dozen songs together for that project, but I was really focused on getting my solo album together and didn't really want to feel like I was going backwards. I had a couple of tracks I just couldn't get out of my head, though, and I heard them as more than just the old 3-piece Mindless Thinkers sound. So I got ahold of Earl Slick and he jumped on board. Then I said to the drummer, Alex Alexander, 'I really hear Carlos Alomar on this track, too.' And Alex just said, 'Well, call him up!' And Carlos joined up as well. It's probably the first time Slick and Carlos have played together since "Station To Station" or at least Bowie's Serious Moonlight tour, so that was a gas. And once those guys were on board everything took off.

Slate and Alexander worked as they had in the early days of Slate's band The Badge: quick, dirty, on tape and in mono. Sherratt added his tasty, booming bass and Slick and Alomar did what they do best, adding signature guitar licks as only they could. Gail Ann Dorsey and Bethany Weimers added backing vocals and a mega-single was born.

Produced by Slate and primarily recorded at Germano Studios in New York City, "Dreamtime" is just the tip of the iceberg. There'll be another single in the coming months featuring the same line-up, followed by Slate's first proper solo album in 2011.

"Working with Slick and Carlos was a like some fantastic dream," Slate said. "And I'm sure I'll work with them both again. And Soon. But I'm already on to the next thing. Watch out!"
